SZS embraces business practices that strive to create an inclusive sense of social responsibility for our staff, clients and the world at large. We have made a conscious choice to identify the overlaps in our process and reduced them to develop a more environmentally friendly business model. We know that a well-balanced and equitable workplace has an influence on our work to produce superior services for our clients, which serves to further our efforts in affecting culture change in the organizations with whom we work.
Our work product is produced by citizens of the United States within the country. Our labor policies encourage the development of new skills and interests. We anticipate that our field staff will spend a few years gaining the expertise we impart to clients and then, move on to other organizations where they can implement what they have learned. In this way, we can affect culture change within the design and construction industry over time.
SZS provides training, plan review and other services on a volunteer basis and provides charitable contributions and financial support that further the causes we believe in.
Over the past decade, our firm has shifted our workflow process to embrace the use of existing structures where our work is located, rather than additional office spaces that require commuting. We no longer sit in offices at desks, separate from our assessment environment. Our field staff performs field investigations and quality control on location, without traveling each day to and from the office. We carpool to work locations, which when considered in reference to our project locations geographically, presents a significant reduction in our carbon footprint while having a positive impact on traffic congestion common in California.
